Sklavoi or Sklavi

Two kilometers from the main north to south coast road, is a village built along two sides of the street and the views from most of the properties are back along the valley to Sitia Town and the sea. The village is quiet and as yet has no cafenions or other facilities but it is well populated by local inhabitants, some of the houses having been well renovated, leaving other old stone houses available for future conversion. Several of the houses are owned by northern Europeans and are used as holiday homes due to the lovely sea views and the peace and quiet that is available here in abundance.

The area is good for walking and trekking as there are many tracks that lead through the olives groves and vineyards that grow in this area. Returning at the end of a day after a visit to the beaches of the south or north coast, or after a long day of sightseeing or trekking, it is possible to obtain a good nights rest as the village is cooler than the areas at sea level.
